Instant Pot Lasagna Pie
Submitted by Bibi V.
Note: I used a 6″ springform pan and all ingredients were raw.
Ingredients:
Dry lasagna noodles
Jar pasta sauce
Ricotta cheese
Shredded parmessan cheese
Ground Italian sausage
Fresh mushrooms
Prepare springform pan with olive oil spray or similar.
Break down lasagna noodles to fit bottom one layer. Add layer of ricotta and couple of spoonfulls of pasta sauce.
Break down ground sausage into small pieces and add a layer. Top with shredded cheeses and sliced fresh mushrooms.
Top with lasagna noodles (broken to fit) and begin again, about 3 layers total depending on depth of your pan.
Cover with aluminum foil. Place on trivet in IP with 1.5 cups water. Cook 20 mins on HP. NPR 20 minutes.
Let sit 10 mins before removing sides of pan and serving.
For MORE pictures, and community conversation see Bibi’s original post in the Instant Pot® Community Facebook group.
In addition I used a box of frozen spinach thawed (in microwave) and drained. I also used oven ready noodles and fresh mozzarella. Cook time for me was 26 minutes (w/NPR) and it was near perfect. 6″ Springform pan. Might get a 7 inch now that I know it works and fits.

I’m mixing in grass fed ground beef w/Italian sausage and no cook lasagna noodles…also adding mozzarella with ricotta. Who knows. Just a try…can’t be too bad.

Thank you for this recipe. Can’t wait to try it!

I am enjoying this sight so very much and appreciate the effort you put into this sight. I especially appreciate how easy you make it to print the recipes. I have a great Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker, a beautiful All-Clad stainless steel slow cooker with nonstick removable insert, a Sanyo Rice Cooker. I just purchased an Instant Pot and am so excited to start using it. It is so much easier to use than any of the other appliances and takes up much less space than the other three but I don’t know if I can bring myself to give the others away. You have so many wonderful recipes I don’t know where to start!!!!!.

Uggh…would have been nice to know at the very beginning about the pot in pot

The picture at the very beginning definitely displays a springform. Using a springform definitely confirms PIP.

I’m trying this now!!! I’m a little concerned because The directions say a couple of spoonfuls of Spagetti sauce. Doesn’t seem like much. I’ll repost when it finishes!!! Can’t wait

I made this today but used sliced zucchini instead and it was great. The only thing I should have pre cooked or either salter to pull out water from the zucchini first because it was watery from that. Also the zucchini was well cooked and really could not taste it. I may slip them thicker the next time. Great recipe. Thanks

I cook my lasagna in the oven this way all the time. I never read the instructions that said to cook the noodles first. Believe it or not it was a family favorite and when we had pot lucks at work there never was any leftovers. Even if someone else brought one also mine was always gone first. I use the Golden Grain marinara sauce. I also put extra cheese in also. I’m going to try this recipe and see how it turns out, it definitely cuts down on cooking time!!

I know you’ve said the water goes into the instant pot and not the pan,but how do the noddles cook if they’re not sitting in the liquid?

From the moisture in the tomato sauce.

When I make lasagna in the oven, I have never precooked my noodles. They cook from the sauce.

Made this for dinner and we loved it. My hubby said next time we should add pepperoni. Wasn’t greasy for us. Cooked as directed.

Did you brown the sausage first?

Do I have to use a spring form pan? I have one too big and one too little. Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. I don’t currently have a spring form pan. Will the recipe work without one?

i am using a corning ware dish that fits in perfectly. I’ve cooked in this corning dish before in my IP.

Followed dirctisons to the letter and noodles were solid and not cooked at all. Was I supposed to use the oven ready ones? I used the regular lasagne noodles. Sausage appeared cooked put I had to put it back in to try and cook the noodles.

Did you add the water?

The water is in the pot itself and not the springform pan with the lasagna, correct?

Correct. This is a “Pot in pot” method, where you place the pot on the rack with water below.

Use the ‘no cook’ noodles. Works great.

Hi – is it just a regular spring tin or special for IP

It just needs to fit inside the 8.5″ inner pot/liner, many use a 7″.

Bibi: One question, do you cook sausage first before assembling??

Per Bibi in the Community group: “raw. No browning at all. Just broke down with my fingers so it would be in small pieces.” found here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/InstantPotCommunity/permalink/923586944401961/

I would think it would be greasy, too.

I prefer grass fed beef and it produces very little grease the way other beef does. Those cows have been fed more garbage and kept in stalls to fatten them up. That’s why other beef produces so much grease… Plus, what little grease is produced from grass fed cows is much better for you! Bodies need healthy fats! I make tacos and spaghetti and never need to drain my meat.
